Our 20” wheeled HÜTTO is perfect for a rider that has outgrown their SKØG or who is needing their first geared bike. Like its smaller PINTO, SKØG and KAPĒL siblings, HÜTTO features our unique EPOK™ growing technologies. If the rider needs to gain some balancing confidence before pedalling and learning the gears, HÜTTO can also be configured as a balance-bike using our optional balance kit. HÜTTO is the ultimate bicycle for your child to develop their riding on, learning to change gears easily, quickly and safely.

HÜTTO starts life as a small lightweight pedal bike, which is ideal either as a first geared bike or as a natural progression on from any single geared bike. HÜTTO gives your child the chance to gain confidence and develop their cycling skills whilst mastering gears for the first time. Then with our unique patented UP:SCALE growing frame design you can transform the bike into a larger pedal bike as your child grows.

Our unique EZ:SHIFT shifter combines the practicality and ease of a twist shifter, with the power of a trigger shifter. This unique shifter combined with Shimano’s brand new Tourney short cage derailleur means that HÜTTO has the easiest gear change of any 20” bike.

As with all of our UP:SCALE bikes your child doesn’t need to ‘grow into it’ – with HÜTTO you ‘dial’ it down to fit them properly from the start, then as they grow and get stronger, the bike frame grows and develops with them. And with our UP:RISE stem extender you can also increase the ‘cockpit’ size of the bike very easily. What this means is that HÜTTO (like KAPĒL) fits better, and lasts longer than any other kids’ bike (See here for sizing help).

As standard, with powerful v-brakes, and all-purpose Kenda tyres, our HÜTTO is an amazing bike. But if you want to ride more aggressive terrain then HÜTTO DISC is equipped with Tektro mechanical disc brakes, upgraded sealed cartridge bearing wheels and grippier Schwalbe Black Jack off–road tyres. Or for more control and comfort on technical trails, HÜTTO TRAIL adds a pair of 50mm travel Spinner Grind Air suspension forks to the DISC version, making the HÜTTO TRAIL the most advanced 20” hard-tail.

HÜTTO Size & Modes

HÜTTO rolls on 20” wheels and is the second geared bike in the Black Mountain EPOK range. It is aimed at children from around 6 years old, fitting those in the 118cm to 134cm height range, or until they are approximately 8.5 years old (depending on growth rate). HÜTTO is the ideal starter bike for kids transitioning from a single speed bike to a fully geared bike. Please use our sizing tool to work out if the HÜTTO is right for your child based on their ability and height.

MODE 1

Our HÜTTO starts life as a small lightweight pedal bike, which is ideal either as a first geared bike or as a natural progression on from our 16” SKØG. HÜTTO gives your child the chance to gain confidence and develop their cycling skills whilst mastering gears for the first time. Our unique EZ:SHIFT system is the first twist-shifter specifically designed for young riders. Operating like a normal twist-shift across the high gears, but with benefit of a thumb paddle that acts like a trigger shifter when changing into the harder low gears. With EZ:SHIFT it’s never been easier to change gear.

MODE 2

As the child grows in size and confidence you simply adjust the UP:SCALE frame system to transform HÜTTO into a large pedal bike, which increases the frame size by over 20%. This makes the most of the easy rolling 20” wheel size, and means that the bike will fit and last the child for longer. Adding our unique UP:RISE stem extender grows the front end of the bike further, giving the rider more room up front.

BALANCE MODE (PURCHASED SEPARATELY)

Some children come to cycling a little later in life and can find gears and pedals confusing at the start. Others may have struggled to learn on a heavier bike or may have balance difficulties or simply be low on confidence. So just like our smaller PINTO, SKØG and KAPĒL models you can also set up HÜTTO as a balance bike allowing the child to master balancing, and guaranteeing a successful transition to pedalling.
