CLEARANCE MODEL: NEON GREEN (usually £469)
These clearance models are discounted due to minor cosmetic defaults in the paintwork that we wouldn't feel comfortable selling at full price. The defect came about during our painting operation, where striped 'tan lines' (as we're calling them) have appeared on the downtube and chainstays.
Given the nature of the marking, the visibility varies depending on the light but, typically, the 'tan lines' are unnoticeable. Check out the product images which show the 'tan lines' at their worst and most obvious.

As with all of our UP:SCALE bikes your child doesn’t need to ‘grow into it’ – with KAPĒL you ‘dial’ it down to fit them properly from the start, then as they grow and get stronger, the bike grows and develops with them. And with our UP:RISE stem extender you can also increase the ‘cockpit’ size of the bike very easily. What this means is that KAPĒL fits better, and lasts longer than any other kids’ bike (See here for sizing help).

KAPĒL Size & Modes
KAPĒL rolls on 18” wheels and is the first geared bike in the Black Mountain EPOK range. It is aimed at children from around 5 years old, fitting those in the 110cm to 128cm height range, or until they are approximately 7.5 years old (depending on growth rate). KAPĒL is the ideal starter bike for kids transitioning from a single speed bike, like our PINTO, to a fully geared bike. Please use our sizing tool to work out if KAPĒL is right for your child based on their ability and height.
MODE 1
Our KAPĒL starts life as a small lightweight pedal bike, which is ideal either as a first geared bike or as a natural progression on from our 14” PINTO. KAPĒL gives your child the chance to gain confidence and develop their cycling skills whilst mastering gears for the first time.
MODE 2
As your child grows in size and confidence, you simply adjust the UP:SCALE frame system (see here for how this works) to transform KAPĒL into a large pedal bike, which increases the frame size by about 20%. This makes the most of the easy rolling 18” wheel size, and means that the bike will last your child longer.
BALANCE MODE (PURCHASED SEPARATELY)
Some children come to cycling a little later in life and can find gears and pedals confusing at the start. So just like our smaller PINTO and SKØG models you can also set up KAPĒL as a balance bike. You can buy our balance bike seat tube for KAPĒL here (Note: it does not come as standard).

Your bike arrives in our specially designed BikeBox to keep it safe during transport. We conduct a 60 point Pre-Delivery Inspection on every bike, we even check the tyre pressures before they leave our warehouse.THE VIP BOX
Included in every KAPĒL and HÜTTO BikeBox is the Very Important Parts box – everything you need to set up your bike from right out of the box, through to "growing" the bike from Mode 1 to Mode 2. The VIP box contains:

TOOLS INCLUDED
You don’t need many tools to configure and adjust the bike, but we include everything you need. It’s easy to do, and no more complex than mending a puncture.MINIMAL ASSEMBLY NEEDED
The bike arrives 90% assembled, with you only needing to add the handlebars and the front wheel, then drop in the saddle and you’re off. It’s s a five-minute setup at most.

RETURNS
i) If you do decide to return a bike, we ask you to do so within the 60 day period.
ii) The bike must be in new, sellable condition, so we would expect the bike only to have been briefly test-ridden on a clean, dry surface for example, and returned in all of its original packaging.
iii) Parcels that are returned to us remain the customer’s responsibility and a refund will not be given until we have safely received your bike undamaged.
iv) If there is any damage to the bike, we may need to make an appropriate deduction from the refund amount.
v) A valid Return Authorisation form must be included with your return.
